Come out, come out, wherever you are...

Yesterday was blisteringly hot. I was nursing iced cappuccinos and ice cream all day. Needless to say, I got no writing done at all. Yet my mind kept going, working out little details for chapter 1.

It finally started cooling off last night around 11 pm. So I sat on the front porch, just enjoying the slight breeze. Where I live is close enough to one of the major rivers so I'll often spot some wildlife here and there. Last night, as I was sitting on the front porch, two little cottontail rabbits came out of nowhere, scampered across my yard, kept hopping across the street, into my neighbor's yard and vanished into the night.

Because chapter 1 is the only thing in my mind, and though I've seen things like this before in my area, this time it's inspiring me to come up with all kinds of ideas in relation to this story.

The creatures who are the best at survival, come out at night...

  1. Perhaps not the most productive evening, but it still sounds lovely. You'll be back to knocking out pages in no time. :)
