I'm tempted to play on words here. Author creature feature! Heh.
I've been featured on a fellow author's blog, George Straatman, who has some lovely things to say about me and Eden Fell. Check it out: http://georgestraatman.blogspot.com/2011/04/guest-author-lily-eden-fell.html
Thanks, George!
I will also be doing a feature on George Straatman and his horror trilogy, which will be posted either later today or tomorrow at the latest. So look for an interesting post soon about this horror author!

Explaining the Mid-Winter Contest
I've been getting a few messages with similar questions, so I decided to post a Mid-Winter Contest Q&A.
Mid-Winter Contest Q&A
Question: Why call it Mid-Winter? Why not call it the Christmas Contest?
Answer: On the world wide wide, there's a variety of people from different cultures and religions. On Facebook alone, I'm connected to a variety of people from all walks of life. Out of respect toward all cultures and religions, I decided to call this the Mid-Winter Contest. While the main theme of the contest is "in the spirit of giving," it's not exclusive to Christmas alone. Hanukkah, Winter Solstice, Makar Sakranti, to name a few, are also respected.
Question: What do you mean everyone wins? There's only one first place prize!
Answer: A draw will be done with all entries for the first prize of autographed copies of Ethereal Tales zine and the Eden Fell paperback. Another draw will be done for the Eden Fell ARC (pdf) and the winning short story, Tearing the Wings (pdf). So, in conclusion, everyone wins :)
Question: Why PDF?
Answer: PDF, Portable Document Format, is a universal file format. No special software or devices (like the Kindle) is required to read a PDF.
Question: Why can't I see the entry form? Oh, wait, now I can...
Answer: I apologize for that. The code I used for the form, made it viewable in Internet Explorer only and I didn't realize that. I've since adjusted the codes and now the form is viewable to everyone, even iPhone users.
Okay, that's all the questions so far. If anyone has anymore questions, let me know!

In Sickness and in Health
Well, looks like I have to take a sick day. It happens. I need to take a break, relax and take care of myself for a day. So, nothing new to report about the current writing project. I'll let you know when I feel better.
But not all is lost! The timing worked out well. I've received another review for Eden Fell from The Pen and The Muse. So I'm going to add this review to my website.
It's short but sweet. Check it out!

Eden Fell - Buy it anywhere!
Okay, not completely true. But! Eden Fell is now available on Amazon sites for several countries, not just the American one.
I've also seen a lot of online book stores in a variety of countries outside of Amazon and the US. I'd list them all, but it's a rather long list.
So, no matter where you live, you can now purchase either the paperback or the ebook :)

Encounter of the Fan Kind
The lovely Rosette, a fan of my writing, posted an amazing surprise for me on Facebook yesterday. She took a picture of herself holding a copy of Eden Fell which just arrived in the mail. (There was some discrepancy with B&N but it's all good now). How freaking cool is this?
This picture makes all my hard work worthwhile. I am honored and greatly touched to see her holding a copy of my book. Thank you Rosette!

Bitten by Books reviews Eden Fell - Four tombstones!
http://bittenbybooks.com/?p=22633
It pleases me to no end the reviewer truly *understands* the story :)
Now I need to figure out which portion to use as an excerpt for the review...
On a sidenote, I did try to tell the editor they inserted grammatacial errors into the manuscript, but I was falsely accused of being hostile. Oh well.

Book Trailer Review
Here's an interesting review of the book trailer for Eden Fell:
http://1stturningpoint.com/?p=3667
I chuckled a bit when I read this review. I find it funny she liked the trailer so much she wanted to see it as a full length movie trailer. Good grief, I seriously doubt any independent author has those kinds of resources.
But, in all fairness, the video was designed solely for the purpose of promoting the release. So perhaps it's past time to create a second trailer.
I just need more resources. What does everyone else think?

Another Review of Eden Fell
This one is quite nice, written by Christian Saunders and published in Morpheus Tales, Issue 8, Reviews Supplement.
http://www.morpheustales.com/reviews.htm
Click to enchance, page 13.
My favorite part is the last line. "This is chick-lit with bloody razors attached."

Another Review of Eden Fell
An Amazon customer, who is also the founder of the Myspace group, Dark Fiction Guild, reviewed Eden Fell. I'm flattered and I appreciate the honesty involved - a rare thing these days.

So Close
Last night, I finished the first draft of the short story. Unfortunately, once I was done, I realized I went over the word limit. 3400 words. I spent all evening shaving off 400 words. That's about a half of a page. It was really hard trying to be objective of my own work like that. But, I did it. Slimmed it down and the final word count is now 2998. Phew...
Now I will do what I can to polish up this word doc and start submitting. First submissin will go out to Morpheus Tales.
My fingers are crossed!
Also, Christian Saunders confirmed a review will be done for Eden Fell in Morpheus Tales, either January or April.
I'm looking forward to that :)

Review for Eden Fell
The wonderful Debbie Wiley has reviewed Eden Fell and I must say, it's very flattering and I'm quite humbled by this.
Read it here: http://bookilluminations.com/rev_eden_fell.html
This review is a huge relief for me. All this time I worried the story was too obtuse, too different, just... too much. It's fantastic to see someone else appreciate the story as much as I do.

Invitation to chat about Eden
On Wednesday, August 19th, I'll be hanging out at RoRRChatters to chat about Eden Fell, my writing, about myself. It's an all day event, so you can stop by anytime. You can sign up to the group for a day or two for this event only if you want.
About RoR: They started out as a group for romance novels but have long since expanded into all genres, including dark fiction. One of the co-founders is an author at Damnation Books.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/RoRRChatters/
I will be posting info, quotes and excerpts as well as answering any questions. But don't worry, it won't be boring. I'll be silly, critical of movies I've seen and use lots of humour, because that's just the way I roll.
I hope to see you there!

And... it's alive!
As of last night, editing is officially finished. I survived the experience.
Damnation Books has updated their website with all the info for the September 1st release.
Damnation Books Website
Eden Fell is listed under Titles in the left side menu, and my bio is under Authors. They've given Eden Fell a violence and sex rating of 4 out of 5. I find that hilarious, I actually giggled when I found out.
Definitely check back on Damnation Books September 1st for a copy of Eden Fell ebook.
(Only 4.50$ for the ebook, shameless promotion, etc).
